Description

As the ideal candidate for this challenging and rewarding Edmonton-based position, you will have a proven track record of successfully supporting activities relating to land acquisition in areas of the Company operations and projects. Your solid experience and knowledge will give you the confidence to work on project teams to execute right of way acquisitions, negotiate damage settlements, acquire additional access and temporary workspace in support of the Company’s capital and maintenance programs, and negotiate annual payment reviews for existing company facilities. Able to build a strong reputation of excellence with customers, agencies and peers, your strong communication and negotiation skills will further assist in your success and future career development.

Responsibilities
  • Under appropriate supervision, execute assigned projects within defined scope, timing and cost on land acquisition, damage claim settlements, compliance with land and public notification requirements for regulatory approvals and surface lease reviews.
  • Provide assistance and support to internal groups and task forces with respect to land issues and assignments.
  • Provide input into policy and procedural recommendations with respect to environmental, reclamation, and encroachment and claim matters.
  • Maintain effective relationships with various government agencies, companies, associations, property owners, and other organizations and individuals concerned with or affected by the company’s land acquisition policies and activities.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry, Aboriginal and government issues and topics.
Qualifications
  • Surface Land Agent diploma, university degree in a related field or a combination of related experience and courses from a recognized institute or association.
  • A Minimum of five years land acquisition experience
  • Must be a Commissioner for Oaths in the Province of Alberta, and have a valid Land Agent’s license and driver’s license.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of agricultural operations, together with a good knowledge and understanding of industry construction and reclamation procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, ability, and skills required in surface land acquisition work, along with the ability to work and solve problems effectively.
  • Excellent written, presentation, interpersonal, and relationship building skills.
  • Knowledge of oil/gas industry, Pipeline Act, and Aboriginal land claims are beneficial.
  • Leadership and drive to grow into progressive responsibilities.
