Under the direction and leadership of the Lead Civil Engineer, we are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Engineering & Technical Services department in Edmonton, Alberta. The Senior Civil Engineer is responsible for providing support to ATCO Power’s fleet of generating stations.

Responsibilities
  • Working with power station staff and other discipline engineers to trouble shoot problems and develop solutions.
  • Developing proposals and business cases for engineered improvements.
  • Planning, designing and preparing contract documents for civil projects
  • Supporting and managing major maintenance and/or construction project activities.
  • Managing the work of consultants and contractors to ensure outcomes are consistent with contract requirements.
  • Undertaking performance and condition assessments
  • Supporting the development of engineering standards and practices.
Qualifications
  • A Civil Engineering degree from a recognized post secondary institution. Post graduation structural courses in structure are an asset.
  • Registration with APEGGA as a Professional Engineer, or eligibility for registration.
  • Minimum ten years experience since graduation preferably in power stations, large industrial facilities or refineries.
  • Experience at an advanced level in the design and construction of civil structures and site services for industrial projects.  Hydro-electrical project experience will be an advantage.
  • Proven, successful project management experience.
  • Well developed interpersonal skills and proven leadership abilities in a multi-discipline team environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation).
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and implement activities successfully.
