Company History

Founded in 1947 as a small trailer-for-hire company in Calgary, Alberta by Samuel D. Southern and his son, Ron Southern, ATCO Group has grown into an Alberta-based worldwide organization of companies with assets of approximately $9.9 billion and more than 7,500 employees.

Engaged in Utilities (pipelines, natural gas and electricity transmission and distribution), Energy (power generation and midstream services), Structures & Logistics (manufacturing, logistics and noise abatement) and Technologies (business systems solutions). the ATCO Group of Companies is nine companies strong.

The story of ATCO is a remarkable one of entrepreneurialism that spans generations and who's brand today is recognized throughout the world.
