Company History

Founded in 1947 as a small trailer-for-hire company in Calgary, Alberta by Samuel D. Southern and his son, Ron Southern, ATCO Group has grown into an Alberta-based worldwide organization of companies with assets of approximately $8.0 billion and more than 7,800 employees.

Comprised of three main business divisions: Power Generation, Utilities (natural gas and electricity distribution and transmission) and Global Enterprises (industrials, technology, logistics and energy services), the ATCO Group of Companies is 10 companies strong.

The story of ATCO is a remarkable one of entrepreneurialism that spans generations and who's brand today is recognized throughout the world.
